Juan Mata delighted with Manchester United’s win over Watford

Juan Mata has expressed his delight at Manchester United’s ‘important’ 2-1 win over Watford at Vicarage Road.

Louis van Gaal‘s side made a bright start, going ahead after Memphis Depay‘s magnificent finish before being pegged back by a late Troy Deeney penalty.

But, in what was a scrappy encounter, we had the final say as Bastian Schweinsteiger put Man United ahead in injury time, sending his side to the top of the table and fans in and out of the stadium went barmy at the goal.

Mata recognised the importance of United’s late win on Twitter after the full-time whistle and the profound impact it could have on the confidence of the squad.

Mata, who started the game out wide before shifting into the middle, didn’t have his best performance and struggled somewhat up against a physical Watford side who found it easy to push him off the ball.

It was Jesse Lingard and Memphis Depay who added the real spark in attack and gave United a real impetus going forward, rather than Mata who has been influential all season.

Next up for United is a very important UEFA Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, a match which Mata is likely to take a starting role in.
