Jesse Lingard set to be rewarded for Manchester United form with new contract

Jesse Lingard is set for fresh contract talks with Manchester United after his brilliant form for the club.

Reports say the 22-year-old could get a bumper pay rise to £50,000 after Christmas, which is double his current £25,000 per week deal.

Lingard only just signed a new three-year contract back in February 2015 but it is fair to say he deserves these talks and an improved deal after his mature rise into the first-team.

His introduction has helped transform Man United’s cumbersome attack into something with real dynamism and an attacking edge to it. All of a sudden, he’s become a very important player in Louis van Gaal‘s attack and that’s down to himself.

What’s impressed everybody the most about Lingard’s performances is both the consistency and level of maturity he has shown.

He’s never looked overawed by the occasion and although his final decisions and shots leave much room for improvement, all the right elements are there. He just needs to polish his game up and has plenty time to do that as he’s still only 22.

In the grand scheme of things, £50,000 a week is a drop in the ocean when it comes to wages at United so Lingard certainly deserves to earn that amount and if his early season form is anything to go by, there’ll be plenty of clubs sniffing around him when the summer comes around.
