Rumoured Manchester United target Thomas Muller has hesitated over signing a new contract at Bayern Munich, according to Kicker.
Man United reportedly had a £50m bid for the German rejected by Bayern this summer.
Muller has insisted in recent weeks that he is not entertaining the idea of joining United and officials at Bayern have also dismissed the rumours.
However, Kicker claim that the forward is privately weighing up his options before signing a new deal, which is set to run until 2021.
Muller is a world-class talent and one that would go a long way to making United a force in world football once again.
However, the 26-year-old is Bayern through and through. It is highly unlikely that he will leave his boyhood club for United, who are a team firmly in transition.
While United should always be targeting the best players in the world, perhaps they need to be a little more realistic in their approach. In the short-term, United would be wise to bring in a few pacey attackers in the January transfer window as they could be the difference between a successful campaign and a mediocre one.
