Bastian Schweinsteiger travelled to the Lowry Hotel with the Manchester United squad ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven.
The German midfielder was in his tracksuit which indicates that he has been passed fit to be included in the match day squad but we won’t know if he starts until the teams are officially out later on this evening.
If Schweinsteiger doesn’t play then Louis van Gaal has a bit of a problem in central midfield as both Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick are definitely ruled out, so he hasn’t got many other options in that position.
I really don’t want to see Marouane Fellaini start in that position because he’s poor in that role but if Schweinsteiger isn’t fit enough to start then he doesn’t have much choice, unless he drafts in a youngster or, even worse, plays Wayne Rooney in central midfield.
So long as Morgan Schneiderlin plays then it shouldn’t be a problem because he’s the leader of our midfield but it will be a weak point that PSV could exploit should Schweinsteiger not be fit.
