Manchester United fans disappointed with Memphis Depay’s performance against PSV Eindhoven

Manchester United midfielder Memphis Depay had a poor evening as the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.

Memphis started the game against his former club on the left wing and would have been full of confidence going into the game following his performance against Watford at the weekend. The Dutchman scored only his second Premier League goal against the Hornets and fans were expecting another good display.

However, Memphis struggled to make an impact on the game. Nothing he tried seemed to come off and he cut an increasingly frustrated figure as the game wore on. United fans voiced their displeasure at his performance:

Memphis has not had an easy start to life at Old Trafford and has struggled to adapt to the Premier League. He would be expected to perform better on a more familiar European stage, especially against his old club but that was not to be the case. There was a sense of inevitability every time the Dutchman took on a player and was thwarted as he continued to divide opinion among supporters.

The 21-year-old will hope he has just about done enough to keep his place in the side for United’s top of the table clash with Leicester City on Saturday.
