James Wilson‘s loan deal has been on and off all season long but on Thursday night he finally completed a move to Brighton & Hove Albion.
For Wilson, it’s an excellent loan move. The 19-year-old will now spend the rest of the season on loan at a club fighting for promotion from the Championship and he’ll undoubtedly get plenty of game time there.
However, it leaves Manchester United even thinner in options up front. We’ve now only got Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney as our striker options and fans aren’t particularly happy to see Wilson leave.
@ManUtd I enjoy how many people seem to think the person that typed this is responsible for the decision.

@ManUtd Good luck to us winning anything with just two strikers, one of whom is a spent force.

@ManUtd WE DON'T HAVE ANY STRIKERS IF ROONEY AND MARTIAL ARE INJURED.

@ManUtd what in heaven's name is this??? So that's only one striker in Martial then. Ffs

It would have been selfish for Louis van Gaal to keep Wilson at Man United if he had no intention of playing him this season, so I think it’s the right move.
We’ve already seen by Marcus Rashford‘s call up to the bench against Watford that van Gaal will simply look to the youth if Rooney or Martial do get injured again, but it is a shame Wilson wasn’t given more of an opportunity as we look so toothless in attack right now.
All I’m hoping is that Wilson’s loan proves to be a positive one because if it is, he’ll come back to United with fantastic experience under his belt which should allow him to challenge for a spot in the first-team next year.
