Manchester United have loaned James Wilson out to Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old only made two appearances this year and has now subsequently been allowed to join Brighton who are flying high in second in the Championship.
It has the potential to be an excellent loan deal for Wilson who is looking to get some valuable game time under his belt and Brighton boss Chris Hughton is delighted to have finalised the agreement.
Speaking to Brighton’s official website, Hughton said: “We have been keen to add a striker, and James has been our number one target for some time, so we are absolutely delighted to have completed the deal.
“He is an exciting young striker, and we hope that this move will prove to be very good for all parties involved. There was a huge amount of competition from rival clubs to sign James on loan and it has been another great team effort to secure his signature.
“I now hope he will help us maintain our excellent start to the season, and bring additional goals to the squad.”
It’s certainly the right move for Wilson because for one reason or another he wasn’t in van Gaal’s plans but if he has the belief of Hughton behind him, then he’ll go on to play plenty of football at Brighton.
I’m a big fan of Wilson. Having watched him tear the U18s and U21s up during his youth career at United, he has always stood head and shoulders above players around him and I feel he just needs a manager who believes in him and lets him grow – with that, he can start to fulfil on his excellent potential.
We’ll be following Wilson’s loan move closely, so check back here updates on his progress at Brighton. Good luck James.
