Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard a doubt for Leicester City clash

Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard is a doubt for the clash against Leicester City this weekend after picking up an injury against PSV Eindhoven in midweek, according to the Mirror.

The 22-year-old reportedly felt his hamstring tighten in the closing stages of Man United’s 0-0 draw against the Dutch outfit.

Lingard had a scan on the injury on Thursday and is now rated as 50-50 to feature against the Premier League leaders.

Michael Carrick is also rated doubtful, while Ander Herrera and Phil Jones will definitely miss the match.

Lingard has enjoyed a promising run in the first-team as of late and his absence would come as a blow to Louis van Gaal.

The Englishman put in a positive display against PSV, although he should have scored at least twice. It is likely that van Gaal will turn to Memphis Depay if Lingard misses the game but the young Dutchman hasn’t been in the best of form recently.

Currently on form, Lingard is one of our better players on form so it would be absolutely typical for him to have suffered an injury. The last thing we need right now is for somebody like Lingard to be injured given that there is hardly any movement in attack already, so hopefully he is able to overcome his hamstring problem and play.
