Bastian Schweinsteiger put in a fantastic performance for Manchester United against Leicester City and showed he has plenty left to offer as a player.
The 31-year-old played in more of a box-to-box role at the King Power Stadium and his headed goal was richly deserved for an overall game which was impressive.
He completed 92% of his passing, won 100% of his aerial duels and also had four shots including his header which gave Man United the equaliser.
Rio Ferdinand fairly pointed the finger at Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger after the PSV Eindhoven game for how little they offered going forward. Today against Leicester, Bastian showed he is still adept at attacking.
I keep banging on about it but United need to find that balance. I don’t think Schweinsteiger has the legs to operate as a box-to-box midfielder anymore but the occasional venture forward should be encouraged because it gave United a different threat in attack, and we need as much help as we can possibly get.
