Schweinsteiger powered in Daley Blind’s corner to equalise after Jamie Vardy had opened the scoring at the King Power stadium.
It was a real moment of leadership from Schweinsteiger, who generally performed well during the clash. Man United supporters were delighted with the German’s goal:
Bastian Schweinsteiger scores and immediately attempts to bloody motivate the players. What a leader.

I was hoping Schweinsteiger's first goal would come soon after last week and what a time to get it! Great ball into him. #mufc

Schweinsteiger should be the Man United captain. It's undeniable. He influences the team, Rooney doesn't

Bastian Schweinsteiger is the real, proper, true Manchester United captain.

Schweinsteiger was unlucky not to score again with his head just after the interval as Foxes keeper Kasper Schmeichel saved another header from the former Bayern Munich man.
The 31-year-old has a wealth of experience at the highest level and he showed supporters on Saturday exactly what makes him such a revered presence on the pitch.
Although it was not the result that United wanted, Schweinsteiger’s performance will fill fans with confidence heading into the busy Christmas period and the rest of the campaign, beginning with the game against West Ham United next weekend.
