Manchester United’s Daley Blind enjoys solid performance against Leicester City

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United had a number of subpar performers in the 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Saturday but Daley Blind enjoyed a solid evening at the King Power stadium.

The Dutchman lined up alongside Paddy McNair and Chris Smalling in a 3-5-2 formation and generally acquitted himself well.

He will be disappointed in the manner that Jamie Vardy scored Leicester’s opener but Blind, by and large, kept the Foxes under wraps along with his Man United teammates. A glance at his statistics from the game tell you he performed admirably:

On top of his defensive duties, Blind’s corner set up Bastian Schweinsteiger for United’s equaliser.

Blind and his defensive colleagues have been impressive this term and United have a good record to show for it.

It is at the other end of the pitch where their problems lie, as the team struggled to create chances from open play against Leicester. You get the sense that the January transfer window will be a crucial one for United this season if they are to be successful.
