Ruud van Nistelrooy has congratulated Jamie Vardy after the Leicester City striker broke his record for scoring in the most consecutive Premier League games in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Saturday.
Vardy opened the scoring early on at the King Power stadium, meaning he has now scored in 11 consecutive league matches.
It was a record that van Nistelrooy held since 2003 and the Dutchman insisted Vardy is deserving of the plaudits which are coming his way:
Van Nistelrooy was a supreme striker for Man United and while Vardy deserves a lot of credit for the record, he has a long way to go if he wants to match the achievements of the Dutchman.
Thankfully, Bastian Schweinsteiger’s header levelled things up for United just before half time. Louis van Gaal’s side had chances to win the game but they had to settle for a point, which will do little to dispel rumbles of discontent among the Old Trafford faithful.
