Devonte Redmond is looking forward to Monday night’s derby clash between Manchester United’s U21s and Liverpool.
Having only played a handful of times this season thanks to lots of rescheduled matches, Man United’s U21s having played much so the derby game against Liverpool is something that the players will be getting very excited about.
Going into the game, Redmond admits a lack of game time has affected the team’s progress this season but is looking for the three points tonight.
“We’ve definitely started alright but we’ve not played many games and some other teams have played 10 times,” Redmond told ManUtd.com.
“We’re still coming together as a group and it’s something we’re working towards.
“Norwich had Kyle Lafferty, Steven Whittaker and Graham Dorrans in their team and I think the goalkeeper, Declan Rudd, has played in the first team too. We had a young side and obviously Nick Powell was coming back.
“We didn’t do badly and should have been leading going into half-time but it’s just one of them where we take it and move on to the next game. Liverpool is a big one and hopefully we’ll get the win.
“You know what you’re going to get from them. They have got good players and it’s a special game for us because there is massive rivalry. If we win, it’ll give us a massive boost going into the next few matches.”
It doesn’t matter what age level the game is played at, United against Liverpool is always an exciting game and it’s one I’m looking forward to.
We could see the likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Axel Tuanzebe and Marcus Rashford play and there’ll be plenty of interest in them as they’ve all been involved with the first-team in recent weeks.
