As a fan, you could understand Ander Herrera‘s frustrations at Manchester United with the constant niggling injuries as well as the fact his position in the team isn’t guaranteed, even if he is playing well.
Now, the Daily Star has reported an ‘exclusive’ and claimed that Herrera has become disillusioned with life at Man United because he feels his career has stalled under van Gaal, so he wants to discuss his future with United’s boss.
I think Herrera would have every right to be frustrated under van Gaal. There have been plenty of points in the last two seasons where the Spaniard hasn’t been included in the team, even when he was in good form, but to say those frustrations have reached the point where he is considering his future is something different altogether.
Overall, Herrera will be happy with life at United. He’s always repeated that to fans, isn’t scared of having to fight for his place in the team and his celebration after Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s deflected winner against Watford (watch here) certainly didn’t look like somebody who wanted to leave in order to further his career.
There’s no doubt Herrera is a better player now than when he arrived but I do think he deserves a far more central role in the team. When we’ve got him in the side, we play so much better – it doesn’t take a genius to work that out. Yet, van Gaal disagrees quite often.
I’d hate to see Herrera leave the club any time soon and hopefully after he returns from injury, potentially against West Ham this weekend, he can come straight back into the starting XI because we need him.
