Manchester United make initial approach for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edison Cavani – report

Manchester United have made an initial approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, according to L’Equipe.

Man United have been linked with a move for Cavani for a number of years but a move has never materialised.

The Uruguayan forward is said to be unhappy at PSG as he is often played out of position to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic up top.

PSG are reportedly unwilling to sell Cavani but they are said to be interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

United’s problems up front this season have been well documented and it is clear that Louis van Gaal is looking at a number of players in an attempt to beef up his side’s attack.

The veteran Dutch manager has often spoke of how he wants to inject “speed and creativity” into his side but Cavani doesn’t really fit into that profile. It remains to be seen if United do firm up their interest in the striker but the club have been linked with him before only for nothing to happen in terms of official bids being made.
