Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo suffers serious shoulder injury – report

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has dislocated his shoulder and is expected to be sidelined for a sustained period of time, report the BBC.

Rojo missed the 1-1 draw against Leicester City last weekend and it now looks like he is set for a spell on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder in training, exactly 13 months after he previously suffered the same injury against Manchester City.

He was immediately taken for a scan after picking up the injury and may need surgery. It is feared to be the same injury he suffered against Manchester City last year which left him out of action for a month.

The Argentine’s absence will leave Louis van Gaal with a selection headache at left-back as Luke Shaw is also expected to be out for a number of months following a double leg break. Daley Blind is able to play there but it seems that van Gaal prefers the Dutchman to line up at centre-back alongside Chris Smalling.

Along with Rojo, the likes of Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones have picked up knocks in recent weeks.

Van Gaal has often spoke of how he prefers a small squad but he may regret his decision to keep numbers low. The squad is being tested right now and the veteran Dutchman will be hoping for no more bad news ahead of the game against West Ham United at Old Trafford this weekend.
