The Frenchman was celebrating his 20th birthday on the same day he was in the squad to face West Ham but a dismal display from the Reds would have put a dampener on his festivities.
Martial was unable to break through a stubborn Hammers defence on a day when Man United were left frustrated by more poor play in the final third.

Schweinsteiger saw a lot of the ball in midfield but could not have the impact he would have wanted to further up the field. He did well to keep possession along with Michael Carrick but the pair were just not incisive enough as United were held to their fifth goalless draw in nine games, a shocking statistic.
The pair will hope they can start producing better performances in the final third ahead of their must win Champions League trip to Wolfsburg. It will be Schweinsteiger’s first club game in Germany since his move from Bayern Munich and he will definitely want to leave his mark on the game and help United into the first knockout round of Europe’s premier club competition.
