Donald Love’s loan deal at Wigan Athletic extended until January

Donald Love has had his loan deal with Wigan Athletic extended until January 7.

The 21-year-old spent the last month out injured but this extension will give him a new opportunity to impress Wigan boss Gary Caldwell who is happy to have kept Love.

Speaking about the loan extension, Caldwell said: “Donald was unlucky because he had been doing well prior to getting injured and he adds great competition on the right hand side. He’s a young player who’s still learning the game and his attitude has been terrific since being with the group.”

For those who don’t know, Love is a versatile defender who joined Wigan on loan back in October and he has previously trained with Man United’s first-team.

When it comes to young players, solid loan deals are far more beneficial than playing irregular and spontaneous games in the U21s system. It’s the only way they will be able to truly develop their own games.

For Love, he’ll be happy to get another bite at the cherry with Wigan and here’s hoping there aren’t any more injury problems for him with the League One side.
