Martial scored a memorable debut goal against Liverpool and has developed into a key player at Man United, most recently scoring in the 3-2 defeat against Wolfsburg this week.
The Frenchman, aged just 20, is really making waves at the club but De Gea believes there is still a lot more to come from him.
“I think he really surprised everyone,” De Gea said.
“He’s a great player, still very young and with a lot of time to learn and improve, but he’s settled into the team and to Premier League football quickly. He’s a top player. He’s a laid-back lad, very quiet, just a really good kid. We’re all made up with him and he brings a lot to the team. As I say, I rate him highly.”
Martial has been excellent for United this season and he will undoubtedly be a mainstay in the side for years to come.
United and Louis van Gaal are currently under pressure to produce results following the early Champions League exit on Tuesday but, in the long-term, supporters can be excited about the potential that Martial has shown, along with the likes of Memphis Depay, Luke Shaw and Andreas Pereira.
