Dutch coach Foppe de Haan has insisted that Louis van Gaal will succeed at Manchester United if given time.
Man United crashed out of the Champions League following a 3-2 defeat against Wolfsburg on Tuesday night. Van Gaal has come under increasing pressure as a result and questions have been raised over his future with the club.
However, de Haan, who is currently serving as Heerenveen’s interim coach, believes that van Gaal is the right man to lead United.
“Manchester United are lacking in goalscoring ability as they are creating very few goals,” he said.
“It is just not about the strikers as they lack creativity and are simply creating too few opportunities. In the end van Gaal will get it going, but the question is how much time he will get.”
For the first real time since he took charge of United, van Gaal is facing intense scrutiny at Old Trafford.
A win against Bournemouth this weekend is vital if the veteran Dutchman is to relieve some of the pressure on him. Anything less, despite the number of injuries that United are currently having to contend with, and there will be serious questions asked over whether van Gaal is the right man to lead the club moving forward.
