Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira was disappointed with his side’s poor performance following the 2-1 loss against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Pereira started the game on the bench but was quickly thrust into the action when Jesse Lingard walked straight down the tunnel having picked up an injury in the first half. The young Brazilian came on in place of his colleague and slotted straight into the right wing position.
It was good to see the 19-year-old back on the pitch for the first team, having found it difficult to make his way into the team since the start of the season. Pereira is one of the players to have benefitted from the injury crisis at Man United as it has allowed him the playing time he probably would not have got had the whole squad been fit.
The youngster got into the game more during the second half but with the team failing to impress, he would have found it difficult to make much of an impact. United have seemed short of ideas in the final third this season and Louis van Gaal could have been hoping that Pereira’s unpredictable nature could help his team create something and win all three points.
Pereira couldn’t have the desired effect but will be hoping he can keep his place in the team for the visit of Norwich to Old Trafford on Saturday. At just 19, he of course has a long career ahead of him but the Brazilian will want to make a name for himself as soon as possible.
