Manchester United have significantly upgraded their contact with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, according to ESPN.
Louis van Gaal is currently under immense pressure at Man United following an early Champions League exit and a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth this week.
United have always been interested in Guardiola, despite reports suggesting they are happy with van Gaal, and the process of making the Spaniard the next manager of the club has been “greatly accelerated”.
However, Manchester City are also in the running for Guardiola’s signature having worked on signing him for three years.
United believe that their history and grandeur will persuade Guardiola to choose them and he has brought up the subject at UEFA coaching meetings.
Van Gaal’s brand of football this season has been turgid. Guardiola’s teams, on the other hand, are known for an exciting brand of attacking football. If the Spaniard really is available, United should be doing everything they can to bring him in.
