Manchester United midfielder Adnan Januzaj was dropped from Borussia Dortmund’s squad for their game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The youngster started the German sides last game against PAOK in the Europa League but failed to make an impact during the 1-0 loss.
Januzaj was berated in the media following the game and failed to make the matchday squad for the visit of Frankfurt. Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel instead opted to have three centre-backs at his disposal, an indication of Januzaj’s struggles.
The 20-year-old joined the German club on transfer deadline day for a season long loan but things have not quite gone to plan for him just yet. After admitted that it took time for him to adapt to the Bundesliga, Januzaj has found opportunities for the first team few and far between.
It is a shame for the youngster who burst onto the scene under David Moyes. He was been unable to show the same ability since Louis van Gaal took over and there were hopes he could find his form again in Germany. Dortmund’s good start to the season meant he found it difficult to get into the team but, even when he has got the chance to impress, the Belgian hasn’t been at his best.
With Januzaj due to stay at Dortmund for the entire season, there is still plenty of time for him to fight for his place in the team before he returns to Old Trafford. There is no doubting the potential he possesses and both United and Dortmund fans will be hoping he can realise it between now and the end of the season.
