Robin van Persie and Memphis Depay suffer bust-up in Holland training – report

Fenerbahce’s Robin van Persie and Manchester United’s Memphis Depay suffered a bust-up while training with the Dutch national team earlier this term, according to reports.

Voetbal International have suggested that van Persie lost his temper with Memphis when he didn’t pass to him during a training session.

Memphis instead chose to pass to another player, prompting van Persie to ask the youngster if he thought he was a “big boy”.

Memphis replied in kind, asking “Do big boys play for Fenerbahce?”

The argument is said to have continued later in the day, with Holland boss Danny Blind saying “You again?” to van Persie, suggesting it isn’t the first time he has caused unrest among the squad.

Van Persie signed for Fenerbahce after leaving Man United this summer but there have been numerous reports that he is not happy in Turkey.

If the story is true, it is a shame to see him resort to petty jibes directed at Memphis, a player who is struggling and clearly needs a helping hand considering his, Holland’s and United’s poor form. That being said, Memphis’ response is hardly that of a player short on confidence. The hope is that the duo can put the episode behind them and focus on the task at hand.
