Manchester United have a ‘20%’ chance of landing Pep Guardiola – report

by Sid Choudhary

Manchester United are falling behind rivals Manchester City in the race to sign Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, according to Marca.

Guardiola announced his decision to leave Bayern at the end of the campaign last week. He will be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti at the Allianz Arena. Marca claims that Man United have a ’20%’ chance of bringing him in, along with Chelsea, with City leading on ’60%’.

A lot has been written about a possible successor to Louis van Gaal, should the Dutchman get the sack. Man United are struggling in the Premier league, having already been knocked out of the Champions League. Pressure has been building on van Gaal and following the loss to Norwich City on Saturday, the rumour mill has been sent into overdrive.

Guardiola is considered by many to be the best manager in the world at this current moment in time and it would be a huge coup for United if they were to secure his services.

However, Marca are under the impression that the former Barcelona boss is destined for the Etihad Stadium and the blue half of Manchester. It would be a blow for the Reds to see such a great manager go to their biggest rivals, especially given the current sorry state of affairs at Old Trafford.

Some United fans may still remain hopeful that Guardiola will be the next man to try and emulate the work done by Sir Alex Ferguson during his 26-year tenure at the club. Despite it looking more unlikely by the day, especially as reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is a more likely target for United, supporters may still be optimistic that Guardiola will take the reigns when he leaves Bayern this summer.
