Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that he knows Pep Guardiola’s next club but he stopped short of revealing their identity.
Guardiola announced his decision to leave Bayern at the end of the campaign last week and speculation has been rife as to where his next destination is.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester City are all said to be interested in the Spaniard, who is widely regarded to be one of the best managers in the world. Rummenigge insisted it is not his place to say where Guardiola is going.
“I think I know where he is going. But I want to leave the announcement to him or his new employer,” Rummenigge said.
“At the Christmas party two weeks ago he came to me, he told me that he was looking for a new challenge and almost apologised. It was clearly difficult for him, I’m not disappointed in him.”
City are considered to be the front-runners for Guardiola’s signature and it may be that United are too late when it comes to securing his signature.
With Louis van Gaal currently under immense pressure at Old Trafford, it appears as if United have turned to Jose Mourinho, with numerous reports suggesting the recently sacked Chelsea manager is ready and willing to take the reigns at Old Trafford.
