Louis van Gaal believes Manchester United are capable of returning to the top of the Premier League despite their poor form in recent weeks.
Man United suffered a 2-1 defeat against Norwich City last time out, meaning they are now without a win in their last six games.
The pressure has ramped up on van Gaal as a result and he walked out of his press conference after just four minutes and 58 seconds on Wednesday following a question about his future. Prior to his walk-out, the Dutchman backed United to return to form.
“We are not in a good position but four weeks ago we were in first place and in about four weeks we can again be in that position again.”
It’s hard to agree with van Gaal as there has been virtually no positives to take away from recent games against Bournemouth and Norwich.
Optimism is at an all-time low under the Dutchman and only a barnstorming win against Stoke City on Boxing Day would restore a tiny sense of hope to United supporters. The team have looked hopeless as of late and it’s safe to say that fans aren’t holding their breath for a good display against Stoke.
