Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal provides injury update ahead of Stoke City clash

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that he has no fresh injury worries ahead of the must win clash against Stoke City on Boxing Day.

Phil Jones recently returned to the starting XI, playing 90 minutes in the 2-1 loss against Norwich City, but the likes of Marcos Rojo, Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia all remain sidelined.

Matteo Darmian could, however, be back for the game against Chelsea following the New Year.

“It’s more or less the same, so there is no difference,” van Gaal said.

“Only that, for example, Phil Jones has played 90 minutes and had no reaction so that’s a good signal.”

Numerous reports have suggested van Gaal must secure maximum points against Stoke and Chelsea to stand a chance of keeping his job.

Man United are currently winless in their last six games in all competitions and van Gaal is under huge pressure at Old Trafford. The majority of supporters thought that he might be let go following the loss against Norwich but it appears that United are being patient with the manager, for now.
