Thierry Henry: Jose Mourinho would be a ‘good fit’ for Manchester United

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Jose Mourinho would be a “good fit” at Manchester United if Louis van Gaal is sacked.

Mourinho was relieved of his duties at Chelsea last Thursday and has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Reports suggest that the under pressure van Gaal will be let go at Man United if he doesn’t win his next two games against Stoke City or Chelsea. Henry insisted Mourinho can bring exciting football back to the club.

“In his time at the beginning at Chelsea, if you remember, with [Arjen] Robben and [Damien] Duff on the sides, and [Eidur] Gudjohnsen in the middle, then Didier Drogba arriving after, they were a good team going forward. They weren’t conceding goals, they were hitting you on the break, but they were kind of exciting going forward,” Henry said.

“He also won the league in Spain outscoring Barcelona – the Barcelona of [Pep] Guardiola. So I think that he can be a good fit.”

Mourinho conducted himself in an awful manner at Chelsea this season, with the Portuguese disrespecting club staff and reportedly falling out with a number of players.

However, the fact remains that he is a proven winner who has won trophies at every club he has managed. There is not much doubting that Mourinho would bring success to Manchester if he was to take over but some fans may be of the opinion that his character is not becoming of a United manager.
