Marouane Fellaini: Manchester United will ‘fight’ for Premier League title

by Ben Topliss

Marouane Fellaini has insisted that Manchester United will “fight” to win the Premier League title this season.

Man United are currently fifth in the league table, nine points behind leaders Leicester City, following a string of poor results.

Louis van Gaal is under huge pressure at Old Trafford as a result but Fellaini believes that United remain serious contenders for the title.

“I hope this season we can win something,” Fellaini said.

“That’s why you play football, to win trophies. We have to keep going.

“In the Premier League you never know. Every team is close together in the top six, so we’ll fight for first place. We have a lot of games. We have to continue to work together, to stay together.

“We have to work hard and win games, and then see what happens at the end of the season.”

Despite Fellaini’s comments, it appears as if the players at United have lost faith in van Gaal’s methods.

Recent losses against Bournemouth and Norwich were dismal and the Dutchman’s tactics played a large part in United’s poor displays. United are already out of the Capital One Cup and the Champions League and you get the sense they are in danger of fading away in the league if they do not change the manager and soon.
