Tyler Blackett has returned to Manchester United early from his Celtic loan spell.
The 21-year-old joined Celtic on a season long loan but Louis van Gaal has brought him back earlier than expected due to Man United’s lack of cover at left-back with serious injuries to both Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw.
Blackett only made seven appearances for Celtic since joining them in August so it’s not as if he will miss out on a substantial amount of first-team football by coming back and with our injury problems at left-back, he may well get more time under van Gaal anyway.
I’m not overly convinced that Blackett will be a United player in a couple of years time but Shaw and Rojo’s injuries have now seemingly given him the perfect opportunity to show he deserves a place in United’s squad.
When he broke through into the first-team last season, Blackett actually played quite well. If he can re-capture that sort of form when he gets a chance then maybe he’s got another chance to break into the first-team. Either way, he’ll add some much needed numbers in defence.
