Jose Mourinho to replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United next week – report

Jose Mourinho will replace Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager next week, according to Marca reporter Pipi Estrada.

Van Gaal is on the brink of the sack at Man United after watching his side suffer a 2-0 defeat against Stoke City on Saturday.

It was United’s fourth loss in a row in all competitions. Estrada claimed that Mourinho, who was recently sacked as manager of Chelsea, will take up the reigns at Old Trafford next week, saying: “Mourinho sits on the bench of the Manchester United next week”.

It is clear that van Gaal has lost the confidence of the players at United and you get the sense that the club need to let him go now if they are to rescue their rapidly deteriorating campaign.

There has been debate over whether or not Mourinho is the right man to lead United but they may not have a choice.

While Mourinho’s reputation has taken a hit this season due to some bizarre antics, the fact remains that he is a world-class manager and United may not be able to find a better option if they pass on him.
