Louis van Gaal has insisted that he “feels the support” of everyone at Manchester United despite the team’s poor form.
Man United suffered a 2-0 defeat against Stoke City on Saturday, meaning they have now gone seven games without a win in all competitions.
Van Gaal was already under pressure following the string of poor results but the loss against Stoke has intensified calls for the Dutchman to be sacked. However, van Gaal believes he has not failed at Old Trafford.
“My time as manager is always the question, but I feel the support of everyone at the club. You can say I have failed, but I don’t think it’s like that,” he said.
Despite van Gaal’s comments, it is clear that he has lost the confidence of his players at United.
The club has gone backwards under van Gaal’s tutelage and they are in serious danger of missing out on the top four in the Premier League if it continues. Already out of the Capital One Cup and Champions League, United need to change something if they are to salvage something from their rapidly deteriorating season.
