Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal suggests that he could resign following defeat against Stoke

Louis van Gaal has suggested that he could resign as Manchester United manager following the 2-0 loss against Stoke City on Saturday.

Man United were deservedly beaten at the Britannia stadium thanks to goals from Bojan and Mark Arnautovic.

It was United’s fourth loss in a row in all competitions and there have been numerous calls for van Gaal to be sacked. The Dutchman acknowledged the pressure and revealed he could resign rather than wait to be fired.

The frustrating thing for United supporters, perhaps more so than the result, was the complete lack of desire and fight shown by their team against Stoke.

It appears that van Gaal has lost the confidence of his players and it is hard to see the veteran manager turning things around. Unfortunately, the writing is on the wall for van Gaal. United have gone backwards under his tutelage and it is time for him to go.
