Manchester United fans frustrated with Memphis Depay following performance against Stoke City

Memphis Depay had an afternoon to forget as Manchester United lost 2-0 against Stoke City on Saturday.

The Dutchman has been one of Man United’s better performers as of late but he was largely ineffectual against the Potters during the opening exchanges.

Memphis was then at fault for Stoke’s opener as his meek backwards header failed to reach David de Gea, allowing Glen Johnson to tee up Bojan to score. United supporters were frustrated with Memphis’ performance:

There were high hopes for Memphis upon his arrival at Old Trafford this summer but he has failed to find the form which once made him one of the most revered young talent’s in the world.

The youngster reportedly enjoys a good relationship with van Gaal but it looks like he may have played a part in his downfall as the defeat against Stoke leaves the experienced coach on the brink of the sack.

Whatever happens to van Gaal, Memphis will know that he needs to be much better if he is to succeed at Old Trafford in the future.
