Manchester United’s Victor Valdes on verge of Cruz Azul move – report

by Tanveer Arayan

Manchester United keeper Victor Valdes is close to sealing a move to Mexican side Cruz Azul in the January transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Valdes has been frozen out at Man United after suffering a breakdown in his relationship with Louis van Gaal.

The Spaniard, who reportedly refused to play for United’s U21 side, is said to have been denied a dressing room locker and threatened with a fine if he mingles with the first team.

Cruz Azul are rumoured to be ready to offer Valdes an escape from Old Trafford and if everything goes to plan the transfer should be wrapped up soon.

Atlas and Veracruz are also said to be interested but Cruz Azul are the front-runners for Valdes’ signature.

The former Barcelona stopper has enjoyed a long and successful career at the highest level and it is a shame to see his career fizzle out in meek fashion at United. The sooner he leaves the club for first team football, the better.
