Manchester United are plotting a move for Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez, according to Fichajes.
Rodriguez joined Madrid from Monaco in 2014 after impressing in the World Cup that summer.
The Colombian enjoyed a promising debut campaign with Los Blancos but he has struggled for game time this time around, with Rodriguez only making seven starts in La Liga this term under Rafael Benitez.
Man United believe that could offer Rodriguez, who would cost around £59m, a fresh start at Old Trafford.
Rodriguez is an excellent player and one that would go a long way to providing the attacking impetus that Man United have been lacking this season.
However, the player may be reluctant to leave Madrid so soon after joining them. The Spanish club may be tempted if United’s David de Gea is involved in the deal but United will not want to let him leave.
It is clear that United are targeting a ‘star’ name as Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo have also been mooted as potential targets. You get the sense that the January transfer window will be crucial if United are to salvage something from their campaign.
