Italian agent Mino Raiola believes Manchester United overpaid for Anthony Martial.
Martial joined Man United from Monaco this summer for an initial £36m which could rise to over £50m depending on bonuses.
Eyebrows were raised once the figure was revealed but Martial enjoyed a blistering start to life at Old Trafford, although his form has dipped as of late. Raiola, who represents Juventus’ Paul Pogba among others, insisted Martial may prove his worth in the future.
“I realised once Monaco sold Martial that Manchester United have overpaid,” Raiola said.
“In the future he might be worth €80m, but Manchester United must have patience.”
While the likes of Memphis Depay and Andreas Pereira are still trying to establish themselves at United, Martial is now firmly considered to be a first-team regular at the club, which tells you everything you need to know about his talent.
The sky really is the limit in terms of what he can achieve. The hope for United supporters is that he stays fit and continues to play as it will be exciting to see how he develops in the future. In the short-term, Martial will be focused on the game against Swansea City on Saturday.
