Confirmed starting XI: Manchester United vs Swansea City

Manchester United: De Gea; Young, Jones, Smalling, Blind; Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger; Mata, Herrera, Martial; Rooney

Subs: Romero, Darmian, McNair, Carrick, Pereira, Fellaini, Memphis

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made one change to his starting XI for the game against Swansea City this afternoon, with Phil Jones coming in for Matteo Darmian.

Man United were much improved in the 0-0 draw against Chelsea last time out and it is likely that the display influenced van Gaal’s thinking.

Wayne Rooney starts up top, with Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera behind him.

Morgan Schneiderlin lines up in the middle of the park alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger, who is continuing his return having completed a three-match suspension recently.

Although United were much better against Chelsea, the fact remains that they are in the midst of an eight game winless stretch in all competitions. Anything less than three points against Swansea may well see van Gaal’s reign at the club come to an end.
