Paris St Germain defender feels transfer links with the likes of Manchester United is proof that he is playing well.
The Brazilian has only started 11 games for PSG due to intense competition with David Luiz and Thiago Silva and has had to fight for his place in the team all season.
Man United have long been linked with him and at one point he confirmed an approach but has since signed a new contract with the French club.
Now, in an interview with LeJDD, Marquinhos admits he doesn’t always want to be on the bench.
“It’s my pleasure. It means that we work well,” he said about links with United and other clubs like Chelsea.
He then added: “Like everyone else, I always think to integrate the starting lineup. But we must respect the choices of the coach and management.
“I will continue to work to get my place but it’s true that he come a time when I am older. You can not always get used to the bench. There are six months to win titles. After, we’ll see what happens.”
When it comes to having a squad which is good enough to leave Marquinhos on the bench, that’s when it becomes really difficult to man-manage every player and keep them all happy about their playing time. It’s something which Fergie made look so easy.
Marquinhos’ comments will no doubt spark some fresh reports over the next few weeks and that wouldn’t be a bad thing because there aren’t many better 21-year-old defenders in world football than the Brazilian.
