Juventus representatives fly out to watch Ander Herrera in action

by Tanveer Arayan

Juventus representatives have been in England to watch Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian newspaper says Juventus director Beppe Marotta and coach Massimiliano Allegri flew to watch Man United’s win against Chelsea in December, followed by directors Fabio Paratici and Pavel Nedved who watched the 2-1 win over Swansea.

Ilkay Gundogan was believed to have been a target for Juventus who are keen to sign a midfielder in January but Tuttosport say their attention has now switched to Herrera.

If there’s one thing which Man United are definitely not going to do in January, it is to weaken the squad even further. So, the idea that Louis van Gaal would even consider letting Herrera join Juventus is a bit ridiculous.

Van Gaal might not have played Herrera as much as fans would have liked but there isn’t another central midfielder in our team who offers what Herrera does.

Sure, if we were to sell Herrera and bring in a top quality player then we wouldn’t miss him too much but at a time where there are so many problems in our squad, the last thing we need to do is create holes ourselves.

So, Juventus can try all the way and send the whole delegation over to Manchester if they want but I very much doubt they’ll have any success in luring Herrera away from Manchester, especially in January.
