Manchester United officials meet Felipe Anderson’s agent to discuss transfer

Manchester United have reportedly met with Felipe Anderson’s agent in England to discuss a January transfer.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a £36m move to Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal is looking to improve his attack.

Guardian journalist Ed Aarons claimed Louis van Gaal is yet to make a bid for the Brazilian forward but said the club had met Anderson’s representatives.

Our writer Leo Nieboer took a look at Anderson last week to see how he would fit in at United, which made for an interesting read, and he certainly could improve the squad but big transfers like this don’t tend to happen in January.

Juan Mata to Man United was a different scenario because Jose Mourinho wanted to get rid of him from Chelsea and the player also wanted to leave. With regards to the Anderson situation, it is January so United would have to really pay over the odds to bring him in because Lazio are struggling in 11th place in Serie A and won’t want to sell one of their best players mid-season.

That being said, if United are meeting Anderson’s representatives then that shows a willingness on their part to discuss any potential move which is a starting point.
