Manchester United forward Nick Powell set to join Nottingham Forest on loan

Manchester United forward Nick Powell is set to join Championship side Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season, according to ITV.

The 21-year-old has only recently returned from nearly a year long lay-off with a serious hamstring injury and Louis van Gaal has already used him in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Despite that, reports have intensified this week that he’ll be sent out on loan and ITV are reporting that he’ll be joining Championship side Nottingham Forest who are currently 14th in the table, a full 21 points off the top.

Powell’s absence from Man United’s U21s match this week was explained as a calf strain rather than anything to do with but it sounds like a loan move may have been getting organised behind the scenes regardless.

I don’t personally think a loan move for Powell, who has already spent time away at Wigan and Leicester City previously, is the right move at this time in his career but I’m not van Gaal and it is ultimately his decision.

We’ll see how this develops but by the looks of it, Powell could indeed be spending the rest of the season out on loan.
