Lazio director Igli Tare has revealed the club received a €50m bid for Felipe Anderson from Manchester United.
Over the last week there has been heavy speculation linking Man United with a move for the Brazilian midfielder and it looks like that speculation was correct.
Gianluca Di Marzio has discussed the bid and says a summer bid was rejected as well as another attempt to sign him in December, which means United went back in again to try and bring Anderson in during January.
Speaking about Anderson, Lazio director Tare said: “Last August we turned down a bid of €50 million for Anderson from United, if he plays like he can, he’s worth more.”
Anderson was dropped by Lazio tonight for their game against Fiorentina due to his poor form but it may well have been to do with the distraction of a potential United move now that we know about this bid.
That’s one hell of a bid from van Gaal for a player who has had a pretty inconsistent season so far but with our attack looking so lacklustre, it’s clear the United boss wants to bring in some reinforcements.
We’ll keep on top of this story and bring you the latest updates as soon as they develop.
