Saul Niguez has dismissed the growing speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United by insisting his dream was to stay at Atletico Madrid for life.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been the subject of intense rumours this week but Atletico have already insisted he is not for sale.
Now, Niguez has had his say on the matter and made it clear he wants to stay at Atletico and fight for the La Liga title.
“My biggest dream is to stay at Atletico Madrid for life,” he said.
“We’ve shown that we can fight for the La Liga title and even win it, but it is very even and any team can give you a scare, so we do not look beyond each game.
“I’m going through a great moment and it shows on the field. I am happy for the goals, but mostly because the team is doing well.”
Fair play to Niguez coming out and making it very clear what he thinks about the current Man United rumours – he’s not interested in completing a move at all.
From United’s perspective, it did always seem strange that we would be making a move for a natural midfielder but Niguez’s comments wouldn’t stop any prospective clubs such as United, from making their move.
However, as Atletico don’t want to sell and Niguez is clearly happy at the Spanish club, United would have to make a move which is worth more than his €25m release clause to have any chance of signing him.
