Manchester United’s Kieran O’Hara joins Morecambe on loan for the rest of the season

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United keeper Kieran O’Hara has joined Morecambe on loan for the remainder of the season.

O’Hara spent time at Morecambe on loan last year and also had a spell at Stockport County.

He is the latest Man United youngster to move elsewhere on a short-term deal, with the likes of James Wilson, Sam Johnstone and Tyler Blackett at Brighton, Preston North End and Celtic, respectively.

However, Louis van Gaal has also recalled players from their loans early such as Will Keane and Joel Castro Pereira.

O’Hara was on the substitute’s bench for Morecambe’s 1-1 draw against Exeter City on Tuesday night but he did not get on the pitch. In any case, the experience should stand him in good stead as he continues his development.

Meanwhile, United supporters will be hoping for rather more significant transfer news this month as the team have looked short for the majority of the campaign, with the 3-3 draw against Newcastle United last time out coming as a bitter blow.
