Manchester United close to €21m Aleksandar Dragovic deal – report

Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal for Dynamo Kyiv centre-back Aleksandar Dragovic, according to Sport Mediaset.

The report claims that a deal worth €21m has been agreed between the two clubs and the transfer is expected to be completed shortly ahead of Man United’s game against Liverpool this weekend.

Man United have suffered a number of injuries at the back this season, with the likes of Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo all out for extended periods of time.

In their absence, Louis van Gaal has had to use players such as Ashley Young in defence and the team has struggled as a result, as the 3-3 draw against Newcastle United last time out showed.

United are said to have extensively scouted Dragovic, who joined Kyiv from FC Basel in 2013.

The team’s success this term could depend on whether they shore up their ranks in the January transfer window and Dragovic would be a welcome addition if he did come in. If Lazio’s Felipe Anderson was also signed, the window would have to go down as a successful one.
