Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed that Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez is not interested in a move to Manchester United.
Niguez has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days but the player himself insisted he wants to spend his entire career at Atletico.
His father also confirmed this week that Niguez has no intention to move to Man United. Balague confirmed that United had made a bid for the youngster but that he has no plans to join them.
“The latest I’ve heard is Manchester United have put an offer of €20m on the table but Atletico Madrid don’t want to let him go,” Balague said.
“And considering the ban, they won’t let him go, so I think that’s the end of that. Even if they met the buy-out clause, the player still has to want to go, and as it stands, he doesn’t.”
While it is disappointing to see Niguez reject United, it is good that the club are being proactive this month in terms of incomings.
Louis van Gaal’s side are in desperate need of reinforcements and they have struggled to find balance this term, most recently in the 3-3 draw against Newcastle United. The rumours surrounding Niguez came out of nowhere and the hope is that United have something else up their sleeves before the January transfer window shuts.
