Manchester United’s Juan Mata urges overseas players to play in the Premier League

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has urged overseas stars to play in the Premier League before their careers end.

Mata began his career in Spain with Real Madrid Castilla and Valencia before moving to Chelsea in 2011.

After a successful three years three years in London, the Spaniard made the move to Man United in January 2014. Mata insisted he has enjoyed “every minute” of his time in England.

“I enjoy everything about football in this country,” Mata said.

“Since the moment I came over here more than four years ago, I have enjoyed every minute. I think it’s a great experience to play football here and I always say the same. I would advise any player in the world to try to play in the Premier League for at least one season and realise how big and how massive football is in this country. We’re talking about respect from fans, great organisation in the league… I really like it.”

Mata hasn’t been in the best form for United as of late and he was dropped for the 3-3 draw against Newcastle United this week.

However, Mata, a central attacking midfielder when he arrived at Old Trafford, has had to adapt to a role on the right hand side under Louis van Gaal. Supporters will be hoping he makes a similar impact in the clash against Liverpool this weekend than he did in the game at Anfield last season, when he scored a memorable brace.
