Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has urged Moussa Dembele to stay at the club amid rumoured interest from Manchester United.
19-year-old Dembele, who has scored nine goals in 21 starts in the Championship this term, is said to be on Man United’s radar.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail recently claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Fulham for the youngster. However, Jokanovic believes staying at Fulham is the best move for Dembele at this stage of his career.
“I believe the biggest benefit for all young, old or medium-aged players is to play games,” Jokanovic said.
“Moussa Dembele is an important player for us. In this competition he’s going to participate in many games.
“I can promise nobody who will be a starter, it depends what we’re going to do in training, it depends on our plans for the next game.
“What is best for Dembele? Playing football is still best for him.”
Dembele is clearly a talented prospect but bringing him in would be something of a sideways move for United as they already have James Wilson on the books, although he is spending the season on loan at Brighton.
It’s safe to say that supporters are hoping for more established stars to sign for United this month, with the likes of Lazio’s Felipe Anderson and Sporting Lisbon’s Islam Slimani said to be on the club’s wishlist.
